“Pros and Cons of Social Media”

Social media is a tool which allows the public to express, discuss and share pictures and videos. The popularity of social media is increasing quite rapidly. Through social media the world has changed into a global village. The most popular social networking sites are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google + and LinkedIn etc. Like any other useful thing of this world, we should know that the there are numerous disadvantages of social media along with its benefits.

Social media can be used for good purposes. Through social media users link with each other and express their thoughts. Sometimes news channels do not show information that we can reach through social media. The transmission and education of Holy Quran and Hadith has also increased with the social media. Education, entertainment and mobilizing of the society for positive purposes has also increased. We must keep in mind to the use social media for good purposes.

We should be aware of the disadvantages of Social media. Students who spend too much time on social media sites have lower academic results. Without proper authentication and research the news spreads across the world. Another grievous problem is that the public is misled by fake accounts. Promotion of pornography, indecency, absurdity and usage of offensive and abusive language is also common. Due to the increasing use of social media, people give little time to their families and relatives.

Beware of the fact that people also spread rumors, corrupt thinking, lawlessness, violence and immorality on social media. Do not share anything without doing proper research! Always share things on your social websites based on true information and for the betterment of the humanity. It is indeed a good deed and assets for you in this world and in the hereafter. The government should punish all those who are using the social media for evil purpose and ulterior motives.
